Absenteeism Workshop
21 November 2017Estimates from Statistics South Africa show that absenteeism costs the SA economy around R16 billion per annum. CTFL firms based in the Western Cape have traditionally incurred high absenteeism rates, which undermine efforts to drive a culture of continuous improvement, boost productivity and overall firm level competitiveness. Dealing with absenteeism is not just about controlling costs in the organisation. There are both direct and indirect costs associated with the effects of absenteeism.
Understandably, there is no one-size fits all approach in addressing absenteeism. There are, however, key learnings and insights within industry which if shared, can benefit other companies. This workshop provided key insights into some best practice strategies to tackle absenteeism in the organisation.
K-Way Manufacturing has one of the lowest absenteeism rates in the Western Cape. To provide key insights for CCTC member firms, K-Way Manufacturing General Manager, Bobby Fairlamb, outlined the approach and key mechanisms introduced by K-Way in addressing this challenge.
